My First Painted Rocks

I started volunteering at the local food pantry this last January. After my youngest son left for college, I was left with an empty house and lots of extra time. Since I had already visited the Food Pantry on numerous occasions, I was familiar with the place and the routine, basically what the volunteers were required to do when they worked there. Having lived a reclusive lifestyle with Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Aspergers Symptoms, any interactions outside my home would be challenging but I decided to give it a go.
I was so pleased that the work was something that I could do albeit with the mandatory exhaustion the rest of the day. Challenging, definitely but worth it.
One of the things I noticed on my shift was that there was a table for odds and ends that were donated. It was for all the things that didn't have a normal food or personal product dedicated shelf space. I saw blankets, gloves, craft projects, and this one time, I saw painted rocks someone had donated. And the clients loved the very simplistic painted rocks. That got me thinking.
I had never painted on rocks before. Oh, I take that back. I did paint one or two rudimentary houses on rocks back when I lived in Michigan. It was a very short project phase as my rocks quickly lost all their paint to the elements. I wasn't aware that painted rocks require a series of acrylic/varnish coatings, especially if they are to be exposed to the outdoor elements.
A few weeks ago, I picked up a few rocks and started painting. This blog is to catalog all my creations.
